Transparent pricing

SEO pricing in Kuala Lumpur, published rather than quoted

Most Malaysian agencies hide price behind a form. That wastes a week of your time and theirs. Here are the real bands, what sits inside each, and the honest reason the cheap tier does not work in this city.

What SEO costs in Kuala Lumpur per month

Ranges reflect scope rather than discounts. The variable is how much content, technical work and authority building a market requires to move.

Monthly investmentBest fitWhat it coversRealistic expectation
RM2,500 to RM5,000SME
Owner-led businesses, single location, one core service line
Technical foundation, schema and entity setup, two to four content pieces a month, local SEO, basic authority building, monthly reportingMovement on mid-competition and long-tail terms within three to six months. Not enough firepower for the most contested head terms.
RM5,000 to RM10,000Mid-market
Multi-service or multi-location, regional ambitions, competitive category
Everything above plus deeper content programme, AI SEO and GEO work, multilingual coverage, structured citation building, conversion trackingMeaningful head-term progress from months four to nine, plus early presence in AI answers for category questions.
RM10,000 and aboveEnterprise
MNCs, listed companies, regional groups, sensitive brands
Full programme including reputation management, executive visibility, digital PR and editorial placement, stakeholder reportingCategory-level visibility across Google and AI answers, and a defensible position that is expensive for competitors to attack.
Below RM1,500Usually a false economy in KLTypically automated reports, a few generic articles, and directory submissionsRarely enough to displace an established KL competitor. The cost is not just the fee. It is the two quarters spent finding out.

Google Ads management is quoted separately as a flat monthly fee, and is usually bundled because the SEO work lowers your cost per click.

What you are actually paying for

SEO pricing confuses people because the deliverable is invisible. So here is the breakdown by where the hours go, roughly, in a typical mid-market KL engagement.

Content and answer structure, around forty percent. Research, writing, restructuring existing pages so they answer questions rather than describe services. The largest line, and the one clients most often try to cut.

Authority and citation building, around thirty percent. Outreach, editorial placement, digital PR, and the third-party mentions that decide both rankings and whether an AI names you. Slow, unglamorous, and the hardest for a competitor to copy.

Technical work, around twenty percent. Heavier in the first quarter, lighter afterwards unless the site changes.

Analysis and reporting, around ten percent. If a proposal puts more than that into reporting, you are buying dashboards rather than rankings.

Three questions to ask any KL agency before signing

Which specific pages will you change in month one, and what will you change on them? A vague answer means the plan does not exist yet.

How will you build authority, precisely? If the answer involves buying links or private blog networks, the risk sits with your domain and not theirs.

What does your reporting count as a result? If the answer is rankings and traffic rather than enquiries, you will get rankings and traffic.

Questions

SEO pricing questions

Why is SEO priced monthly rather than as a project?

Because the competitive set does not stand still. Rankings are relative, so a site that stops improving loses ground to sites that keep going. Some engagements do start as a fixed-scope technical project, then move to retainer once the foundation is sound.

Is there a minimum contract length?

Six months is the usual minimum, because anything shorter cannot honestly be judged. Months one to three are largely foundation work whose effect appears later. Committing to three months then evaluating is a common way to conclude that SEO does not work.

What does the free consultation cost?

Nothing, and there is no obligation attached. Thirty minutes, your site read in advance, and the three highest-impact fixes named regardless of whether you engage. Request a slot.

Do you offer performance-based pricing?

No. Performance pricing sounds fair and distorts behaviour, because it pushes an agency toward easy keywords that hit the trigger rather than commercially valuable ones that do not. A flat fee with transparent reporting keeps the incentives pointed at your pipeline.
